What We Do

Lady Liberty provides practical legal information and assistance to women, related to Sexual & Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Marriage (Customary/ Civil), Divorce & Wills.

Our services include:

  • Legal Information & Services

  • Psychological Support

  • Trauma Counseling

  • Access to Shelters & Safe Spaces

Our Focus:

Domestic Abuse is “physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviours that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure, or wound someone” (https://www.un.org/en/coronavirus/what-is-domestic-abuse).

We travel to underprivileged and remote communities to empower women with access to legal information and services around Domestic Violence, Marriage, Divorce, Maintenance, Wills and the Rights of Children within these matters. But because we know that while women who live in poverty are more prone to abuse, abuse affects women of all LSM levels, so Lady Liberty SA conducts legal and wellness sessions for all women, including those tackling Sexual Harassment in the workplace and related issues. Over the years, we have organically evolved to focus on the holistic wellness of all women, that is Physical, Psychological, Spiritual, Emotional, and Financial. In this way, our goal is to ensure that women are well, and well-equipped enough in all areas to continue to fight the scourge of SGBV.
